Review: Think and Grow Rich

Think and Grow Rich
Think and Grow Rich by Napoleon Hill

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I have read the majority of the success classics, but this one continues to be a perennial favorite. Napoleon Hill has the credibility of in-depth research and endorsement of Andrew Carnegie, who is the Bill Gates of the industrial age. I also put the perspective of the times Napoleon would have written this in and the fact that it endures speaks to not only what is written but how (style) it is written.

The most impactful chapters for me are Chapter 1 "Thoughts are Things". This is a common refrain in most success books but the time of my life I was exposed to this (21 years old) gave it a particular impact.

Chapter 2 "Desire" was also pivotal in that the "Six Ways to Turn Desire Into Gold" was the first time I allowed myself to visualize a future of being a millionaire and the service I would give in return for it.

As a result of this book, I have been a prodigious reader of success books, particularly, the older classics. As an author, it also had an impact on my desire to give back. I know that my current success, through my own struggles, is due in no small part to this book.

While the title may seem materialistic, Napoleon explains in his audio sessions "In His Own Voice" that he needed an attention getter, but realized that mere wealth alone is a poor barometer for full life success.

I highly recommend this work to anyone who needs to "systematize" their thoughts of success and how they will achieve it!

Review: Maximum Achievement: Strategies and Skills that Will Unlock Your Hidden Powers to Succeed

Maximum Achievement: Strategies and Skills that Will Unlock Your Hidden Powers to Succeed
Maximum Achievement: Strategies and Skills that Will Unlock Your Hidden Powers to Succeed by Brian Tracy

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I have a simple formula for success that requires the right Opportunity, Timing and People. This book, "Maximum Achievement" by Brian Tracy was a potent combination of the three and impacted my life at a time I most needed this type of message.

As a student of the success classics I have always prided myself on understanding the laws of the mind and achievement. However, there was a "missing link" of those laws and their practical daily application in the world of business and sales...enter Brian Tracy.

I had just gone through a business failure and was struggling to regain my footing financially and found myself back in corporate America...at the bottom. My mind would not let me accept that position as a long term occupation so I used this book to help me re-build my opportunities.

I am a big proponent and believer in Strenghfinders 2.0 and through my assessment my #1 strength is Strategic. The language and syntax that Tracy uses speaks directly to my need to see things linearly laid out...progressively building to a crescendo of results.

The most impactful chapters for me were:

Make Your Life a Masterpiece
The Master Program
The Master Goal

As a book on success, it contains all the basic core elements such as the power of thoughts/mind, eliminating fear, setting goals and living a life of balance.

Tracy is credible because of his own struggles, similar to mine and certainly most people and the authenticity for which he conveys his approach to business and life success. He is an enduring figure in this genre and his decades of top tier status reflect on the power and effectiveness of the message.

I have not read this book in several years, but now in doing this review and looking at the well-worn, highlighted pages, I will dig back in for reinforcement of key lessons.

This book has reached "Classic" status which I reserve for books that have had the most impact on my life and represent timeless, proven techniques for which they were written.

I highly recommend this book!

Review: The Prosperity Bible: Landmark Writings on the Incredible Prospering Powers of the Human Mind

The Prosperity Bible: Landmark Writings on the Incredible Prospering Powers of the Human Mind
The Prosperity Bible: Landmark Writings on the Incredible Prospering Powers of the Human Mind by Napoleon Hill

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

At over 1,250 hardbound pages, this compilation is the definitive volume of success classic by many of the most widely recognized masters of the genre.

Authors include well known names such as P.T Barnum, Benjamin Franklin, and of course, Napoleon Hill. There are other names that may not be as familiar, except to students of the success classics such as Charles Fillmore, James Allen, Wallace Wattles, Russell Conwell, Robert Collier, Charles Haanel and Ernest Holmes - a veritable who's who.

While this review will not be an exhaustive treatise on the individual books, essays and systems contained in this book, I do want to give the potential reader the ammunition they need to encourage inclusion of this book on their shelves.

Of the 19 works in the book, "Think and Grow Rich" by Napoleon Hill is THE CLASSIC that paved the way for the contemporary guru's of our time, such as Anthony Robbins and others. That work alone would make this volume worth the price of admission.

However, it is some of the lessor known works that really make this a jewel worth it's weight in gold. My favorites include;

"As A Man Thinketh" by James Allen
"Masterkey System" by Charles F. Haanel
"The Secret of Success" by William Walker Atkinson
"The Secret of the Ages" by Robert Collier
"The Science of Getting Rich" by Wallace Wattles
"Prosperity" by Charles Fillmore

I have reviewed many of this individual works on Goodreads, and alone they are priceless in the lessons they convey, the "old world" prose that the authors of this day engaged and the timeless truths of who we are and what we are capable of as human beings made after the image of a mighty Creator.

As the author of several books on success, sales and life mastery, I ingest a steady diet of books on the subject. I have read 100's of success books, mainly the classics, and this thick volume is a "one stop shop" for anyone needing a life manual.

If my home was on fire and my expansive library of physical books (still love them...even with an overflowing e-reader!) I would grab my vintage Bible...and this book.

I highly recommend this volume!!!

Review: God Always Says Yes

God Always Says Yes
God Always Says Yes by Sue Sikking

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I am fortunate enough to have one of the original hard bound versions of this book. My father gave it to me after I had gotten married and began to be a student of the success classics.

In a previous review of “How Five Used Truth” by Emilie Cady, I relayed the story of how my father introduced me to these types of authors. At the time that he’d given me this book from his library, I had already read many of the works of Catherine Ponder, Robert Collier, Wallace Wattles, James Allen, Prentice Mulford and others.

“God Always Says Yes” by Sue Sikking is a reinforcement of the core truths outlined in most of these works. Because I had a foundation built on the Bible and on these other works, I was immediately able to understand and assimilate Sikking’s message.

The most impactful chapter for me was “The Law Of God Is Completion”. It outlines many of the standard elements such as the law of vibration, attraction, rhythm, polarity and others that would be recognizable to readers of this genre. It could easily be an inspiration for “The Secret” by Rhonda Byrne.

As I state in all of my reviews of books of this nature, you do not have to suspend your beliefs systems, but use them as a foundation to understand the process we have been engrafted with by The Creator. As a Christian, this book aligns with my core beliefs and things I have been taught and read. Sikking uses Bible chapter and verse throughout, but in my opinion, not in an over-the-top fashion. There are elements of the book that would remind you of Deepak Chopra’s “Seven Spiritual Laws Of Success”.

Do not mistake this for a simple “prosperity message” but a guide to living a well-balanced life – connected to God.

The book is holding up but well-worn from time and use…one generation to the next. While my children are grown and have had me and my father as “living witnesses”, I will eventually pass this down.

If you are fortunate enough to find this book…I would strongly suggest reading it.

Review: Mind Is the Master

Mind Is the Master
Mind Is the Master by James Allen

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This expansive volume is a harvest of rich inspiration in my life planted by the small seed of "As A Man Thinketh" by James Allen - a gift from my father-in-law some years ago.

It is a simple, but highly impactful read that outlines the spiritual forces that reside within man and that his external world is a direct by-product of his thoughts. His simple truths resonated with me at a time in my life that I was seeking higher expression of success - mired in financial distress and ruin.

I had always been a student of certain success classics by the likes of Wallace Wattles, Prentice Mulford, Emile Cady, Robert Collier, Napoleon Hill (of course!) and others. While "As A Man Thinketh" if fundamentally in unison with these writers, something about James Allen prose and content cut right to the heart of what I needed.

Years later, I happened upon this volume while bargain hunting at the now defunct Borders Books. It is the complete treasure of James Allens' works and was immediately a favorite "friend" on my shelf!

These 19 essays, works, and books run down what was a prolific writing career and one that insightfully captures the spiritual elements of success and holistic living. As an author of books on success, sales and life mastery, I believe that we should live complete lives - mentally, socially, physically and financially.

My favorite volumes within this work are "As A Man Thinketh", From Poverty to Power, and the daily Book of Meditation For Every Day In the Year - Fabulous! My absolute favorite is "Eight Pillars of Prosperity". I have a separate review of this book on Goodreads but it is a practical application of the seminal work Emerson's "Essay on Compensation".

At 866 pages it is a compilation that you will refer to often (daily using the Meditations!) and will become the go to reference guide on your bookshelf.

This is a top 10 book in my library and I highly recommend it!

Review: The Seven Spiritual Laws of Success: A Practical Guide to the Fulfillment of Your Dreams

The Seven Spiritual Laws of Success: A Practical Guide to the Fulfillment of Your Dreams
The Seven Spiritual Laws of Success: A Practical Guide to the Fulfillment of Your Dreams by Deepak Chopra

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

I had seen Deepak Chopra on a PBS (love PBS!) many years ago. It was right about the time this book was released. As he walked through the Seven Spiritual Laws Of Success I was captivated by the simplicity of the concepts.

I then went to the public library for my weekly visit and not only found the book but found the audiotapes. The first thing that struck me was the size of the volume. Probably less than 10 typed pages, and able to be read in less than an hour. I literally read the book before I left the library.

As a student of hundreds of books in the success genre, largely the classics, I immediately recognized that the seven laws were in alignment with much that I had read over the years. That is the reality of eternal truths, it matters not who writes it, what religion they espouse, and the language they use– truth will cut through to the top.

As a Christian, I could easily juxtapose the seven spiritual laws and correlate them directly to the Bible. In reading books of this type, and other success books that have been labeled metaphysical or New Age, I believe the key is not to suspend your belief system, but opening your mind to receiving the lessons using your beliefs as a foundation.

Between the size of this volume and the poetic language that Chopra uses, it reminds me of “As A Man Thinketh” by James Allen. With the reading of each sentence, paragraph and turning of each page Chopra very effectively defines the laws and shows you simply how the actualize them in your life.

My favorite chapter is The Law Detachment. This law sets you free to pursue your desire without “raging against the machine”. Through intention and attention you create the mold and the blueprint, but universal power (who I explicitly call God) will bring about the events, circumstances, resources and people necessary to help you accomplish your desire. It will not always fit your anticipated method but if you are detached from “The How”, but be ready for the avenues to open up you would enjoy the journey much more.

It has been a while since I have read this book, but even in writing this review am reminded of its timeless effect on my spirit – reminding me of who I am, how I was created, and what I am capable of.

That is what a good book should do.

Review: The Science of Getting Rich

The Science of Getting Rich
The Science of Getting Rich by Wallace D. Wattles

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This book had made the "rounds" back in the 80's and I was exposed to it then for the first time. I had gotten a free copy in PDF and put it on my computer. Since this was before e-readers, I lost track of it for over 10 years...having never read it.

I then faced a series of financial challenges and began to devour my old stand-by success material and happened up on the old PDF version...serendipity.

I read the book in less than 2 hours...and read it again...and again!

At the point where I was in my life, the words were spot on. Wallace Wattles has a style that is reminiscent of James Allen in "As A Man Thinketh" and the prose resonates with me in a way that conveys "old world wisdom".

Having read & listened to 100's of success books, articles, and audio programs, I am consciously aware of what I need to do to achieve, but the reminders of a good book stimulate those learnings.

The book provides a progressive approach and crescendos with a fundamental statement that is a reverberation of Hebrews 11:1 - Now faith is the substance...

Readers of this book and familiar with the Bible will see the connection...without sermon or preaching style.

He correlates that the thoughts we think are the "mold" and that universal substance fills all space and responds to those thoughts. These are the foundation of The Secret by Rhonda Byrnes and The Science of Getting Rich is the book her daughter gave her that was the catalyst for her personal turnaround and best selling book.

While The Secret goes light in many areas, for those that want to "go deeper", I would highly recommend this book and other books and essays by Wallace Wattles.

I have this book on Cd as well and listen to it often...

Review: As a Man Thinketh

As a Man Thinketh
As a Man Thinketh by James Allen

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I received this book from my father-in-law and it was one of those miniature hardbacks that can be found at the kiosk in the airport or grocery store.

Since I had taken the hand of his daughter, the least I could do was read it! Thankfully, I have always loved reading success and mind material and this is one I had not read.

I was finished in less than 30 minutes but immediately realized that finishing the book was not the goal...becoming deeply introspective was the real purpose.

James Allen says in the foreword of my edition,

"This little volume (the result of meditation and experience) is not intended as an exhaustive treatise on the much written about subject of the power of thought. It is suggestive rather than explanatory, its object being to stimulate men and women to the discovery and perception of the truth that - They themselves are the makers of themselves."

The 30 minutes have turned into almost 30 years of living my life by this principle and understanding the power of thought, belief and faith and the corresponding evidence of all of them in my life.

I have become a student of the works of James Allen and beyond this well know title, also highly recommend "Eight Pillars of Prosperity" and "The Path to Prosperity".

Know that much like the title "Think and Grow Rich" by Napoleon Hill, these titles are not singularly focused on financial prosperity but the five-fold balance of Spiritual, Mental, Social, Physical, and Financial.

Allen is from England the prose and vernacular are in keeping. He also directly quotes The Bible and without preaching from a position of doctrine more provokes the reader to understand their part in universal design and destiny.

Now that I am writing this review, I am inspired to read this classic once again.

I highly recommend this book!

Review: How I Used Truth

How I Used Truth
How I Used Truth by H. Emilie Cady

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I am fortunate enough to have one of the original hard bound versions of this book. My father gave it to me when I was a teenager. It has his handwritten notes, yellow highlights, pencil and pen writing throughout - he used this book. Also, crayon marks where one of us kids must’ve gotten hold to it!

For the last 60+ years, my father has played piano for our local Baptist Church. As a small child, I would listen (or more appropriately doodle through) the weekly sermons. At that age, what worries could I possibly have that would necessitate any spiritual introspection? Besides being “forced” to read this book, as a teen, I really had no clue for what Cady was trying to relay. When I moved away from home, I packed the book along with the five or six others in my “library”, and left to be married to my high school sweetheart. On the shelf it sat for a couple of years.

Very quickly, life began to strike its blows. Those first years would easily fit the classic tale of young love… matrimonially blissful but financially bankrupt. Not knowing how to improve my circumstance, and visiting home one Sunday we went to church. I listened intently, now realizing why old-school Saints say “Amen”, but the message didn’t give me any answers for the tests I was facing.

After church, and a good home-cooked meal, my dad asked me about this book. He told me that answers I needed were in the pages. This time he suggested I read it, and on my own accord I immediately went home and devoured the pages.

Cady is one of the first of this genre of authors that I began to study. Along with Catherine Ponder, Robert Collier, Wallace Wattles, James Allen, Prentice Mulford and others I began to build a success library of the classics. Cady was a trailblazer with these types of books this one being originally published in 1916. She was connected to Unity and Charles Fillmore and I am sure at the time from both a religious and gender standpoint this type of message was controversial coming from her.

As a Christian, “How I Used Truth” laid a deeper and broader foundation for how God intended for us to live prosperous, well-balanced lives. It was news to me that I had been created in his image, and thus had the power to influence the outcomes in my life. I had always seen God as an external force, watching and waiting for us to crumble but not reaching down to help. It was only as I began to read books of this nature along with the Bible that a broader perspective was opened up to me. The power of necessity meeting maturity.

The most impactful chapters were “Finding the Christ in Ourselves”, “All Sufficiency In All Things” and “The Spoken Word”. Cady masterfully lays out the process for understanding and utilizing our divinity and how to work with God. There is no doubt that works such as these are the foundation of many of our modern-day churches.

Do not mistake this for a simple “prosperity message” but more a guide to living a well-balanced life – connected to God.

The book is holding up but well-worn from time and use…one generation to the next. While my children are grown and have had me and my father as “living witnesses”, I will eventually pass this down. For now, I intend to read it again.

If you are fortunate enough to find this book…I would strongly suggest reading it. It is a Top 10 book in my library and one that changed the course of my life.

Review: The Powermind System: Twelve Lessons on the Psychology of Success

The Powermind System: Twelve Lessons on the Psychology of Success
The Powermind System: Twelve Lessons on the Psychology of Success by Michael Monroe Kiefer

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This is the case of a very good book getting very limited exposure.

I found this book on the bargain shelf at a major bookstore in 1997 and while the cover was not ultra compelling a deeper look into the content let me know that the information was going to be highly effective. I read this book right after reading Anthony Robbins "Unlimited Power" and Napoleon Hill's Think and Grow Rich for the fifth or sixth time.

Certainly there are standard laws of success that any good program will outline and cover. Having read hundreds of success books, largely the classics, I am looking for that foundation to be built on. Michael Monroe Kiefer does a great job building on that platform.

Even reading it against giants like Robbins and HILL and others he does a great job of creating a psychology of success that is unique. The layout of the book has three core elements

1. An overview of the coming material in a chapter. There are 12 logically laid out sessions throughout the book. You can jump right in to an area and not feel lost, or you can read start to finish as it is fluidly laid out

2. An outline of the core material for the 12 lessons – I like the modular style that contains lots of sub-chapters, bullets and numerical outlines. It is more like course material than a book.

3. A series of workshops and exercises that help you get clear on what you want and what you need to do to achieve it.

There are spiritual elements, scientific elements such as N.L.P - neuro linguistic programming, and other practical teachings that allow people of all faiths and beliefs systems to use the system. An open mind is still required.

As an author, I have written my own psychology of success books, and while more contemporary in nature and not as detailed in the scientific elements, I was inspired by Kiefer's approach with his book.

If you are new to success philosophies and the psychology of success, I would recommend this book as it combines elements of some of the best books ever written and brings them all together in a well laid out design.

I highly recommend this book!

Review: The Master Key System

The Master Key System
The Master Key System by Charles F. Haanel

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This book was originally written as a correspondence course (remember those?) back in 1912. It predates some of the more commonly known success titles, such as Think and Grow Rich by Napoleon Hill and the more contemporary success standard, Unlimited Power by Anthony Robbins.

This book is on par with any book on the topic of achievement I have ever read. In fact, it has become my "go to" book when I need a jump start of inspiration (along with the Bible).

What I like about the way Charles Haanel delivers his content is that it is highly modular and paragraphs are self contained lessons and a few paragraphs combined is like reading a blog in today's times. As a result, you can grab a few nuggets and move around throughout the book. It does not have to be read "linearly".

The Law of Attraction is a core element of the book and is obviously a forerunner of The Secret by Rhonda Byrnes. What I like is that this book ties direct to religion, spirituality and God without trying to convert the reader with doctrine. A seasoned Bible reader will be able to discern the direct tie in to Biblical concepts but religion is not a pre-requisite to enjoying this book.

The most impactful concept for me is the process of bringing things from the thought realm into the physical world...

Idealization
Visualization
Materialization

While simple concepts, Haanel goes in-depth into the states of mind you have to generate to emotionalize feelings in a way that creates corresponding action...leading to realization.

I also own the Cd's of this book, which I would highly recommend for reinforcement and meditation. This classic deserves a wider audience and is a must read for students of success!

Review: Unlimited Power : The New Science Of Personal Achievement

Unlimited Power : The New Science Of Personal Achievement
Unlimited Power : The New Science Of Personal Achievement by Anthony Robbins

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

It is hard to argue with perennial worldwide success!

There is no doubt that Anthony Robbins is the standard-bearer for the psychology of achievement and success. I was exposed to him for the first time back in the late 80s from a Rolling Stone article. I believe there was a Michael Jackson or Prince feature and I ended up reading this about some wunderkind of 19 years of age.

At that time, he was famous for the fire walks that people would take at the end of each session. While a metaphor for the ability to change, it may have initially labeled him incorrectly. Honestly, I thought he was a cult leader of some sort.

Fast forward two years later - After seeing a late-night infomercial, I would buy the book Unlimited Power. The book would change my life, as it has millions of others.

At the time I read the book, I had read at least 50 to 60 success classics. Names such as Wallace Wattles, Prentice Mulford, Catherine Ponder, James Allen, and many others of this genre. This was the first time to be exposed to a contemporary message of success, and that was part of his appeal to me – bringing new language to success.

With a growing young family and blind ambition, I faced many difficult times, particualarly financially. The foundation that had been established by those Classics, and then the injection of Robbins' over-the-top enthusiasm, kept me motivated and inspired to keep pressing.

Strangely, it was the televangelist Charles Stanley that reignited my goal setting sessions and brought me back to this book in 1990. I then purchased the unlimited power CDs and began using them along with my spiritual foundation. It was that combination that defined my approach to life - to live with no compromise and be balanced - mentally, physically, socially, spiritually and financially.

As with each of us, my journey had great challenges, but through books like this one I ultimately found success and have achieved most of the goals I have written down. I have financial success, work that fulfills me, a great relationship with my wife and kids and have so much more to look forward to and that I want to achieve.

I have even authored several books, including a psychology of success volume, and as many of us in this genre would have to acknowledge, Unlimited Power is an inspiration for those works.

Though it was not written in the 1800s or early 1900s, like most of the success books on my shelf, I view this book as a must read and a classic!

I would highly recommend this book!

Review: Riches Within Your Reach!

Riches Within Your Reach!
Riches Within Your Reach! by Robert Collier

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This is truly a success classic and combines 4 of Robert Colliers works - "The God in You", "The Magic Wand", "The Secret of Power" and "The Law of Higher Potential".

This volume is 565 pages and provides a matriculation into the University of Success U!

The first work, "The God In You" will immediately reflect the fact that Collier had trained to be a priest, but went into business. He was very successful and his "Kings and Priests" perspectives are driven by this foundation and makes him extremely credible (in my book!) in regards to the subject matter.

For those of us that are capitalist (and not afraid to admit it!) and don't want the paradox of "wealth and worthiness" that cloud so many spiritual essays, these works give you a corresponding viewpoint to the value of "divine riches".

Colliers writing style flows and is easily understandable and relatable though written in 1930's and 40's. The concepts are consistent to what most books on achievement subscribe to such as power of thoughts, law of attraction and compensation. Collier sets himself apart with level of detail, intellectual depth and spiritual directness that aligns with people of faith.

If I could only own 10 books on the subject of success, wealth and life fulfillment, this would be one of them...I highly recommend it for those looking for a deeper view of mental/spiritual driven success!

Review: The Secret of the Ages

The Secret of the Ages
The Secret of the Ages by Robert Collier

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I bought this title the same time as "The Riches Within Your Reach" also by Robert Collier. At the time, I didn't know if the volumes would be redundant or what new learning this title would present.

Cutting to the chase, this was actually a better volume and I have literally worn the cover off! I gave this book to my father (who actually introduced me to success books when I was a teen) and he loved it as well.

At 400 pages, it is chock full of deeper revelation regarding the power of thoughts, the mind, and universal supply. Given that Collier trained to be a priest, the reader should not be surprised and the number and directness of Biblical principles and quotes. However, I would not discount this volume based on differences in religion as he does not try to convert...but convey truths that have been substantiated globally.

You can not be in a hurry to finish this book but rather, take a chapter by chapter approach and journal the key learning and how you can apply it to your life. The chapters that impacted me the most;

"See Yourself Doing It" - which outlines the elements of effective visualizations and imaginations - clear, focused and vivid.

"The Law of Supply" - much like Emerson's Essay on Compensation, this chapter more plainly describes how to get what you need out of life...to demand it through thoughts, words and deeds.

As I state in most of my reviews, these types of books have to be "tuned" to the ear (or eyes!) of the reader and they are not for everyone. There are chapters that I have skipped having read them once, but there are others that I have read dozens of times over the years...it is truly a top 10 favorite of my library of "friends".

Get this book for your success collection!

Review: The Dynamic Laws of Prosperity

The Dynamic Laws of Prosperity
The Dynamic Laws of Prosperity by Catherine Ponder

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This book by Catherine Ponder is the best on financial prosperity that I have read. I have read well over 200 books in the success genre (mainly older volumes like this one) and Ponder is the most plain & thorough.

Ponder explains that prosperity is God's will but that it requires beliefs and actions on our part. As with many in this genre of books, there are religious elements throughout. The key for any religion reading these books(I am a Christian) is not to suspend your core beliefs but use them as the foundation for what you are reading. Catherine is very specific with use of Bible Verses.

For me, her beliefs aligned perfectly with mine and she also reinforced a concept that was new...and scary for me at that time...tithing. Many of the current and classic prosperity and success books include gratitude but not the principle of tithing.

This work is outlined much in the way that "Think and Grow Rich" by Napoleon Hill is - with chapters on Self-Confidence, Charm, Persistence, and Power of Thought. It also integrates prayer and affirmations as tools to engage the inherent power in each of us in connection with a loving God who wants to see our needs/desired met.

She uses real word testimonies that give the reader a chance to correlate the teachings to their own lives.

While the overt Biblical connections, including specific Bible verses, will not appeal to those not religiously inclined, those that are seeking in-depth reinforcement to their Sunday Sermons will find deeper revelation in this book.

This book is one of my favorites and would be one of my Top 10...I highly recommend this book!

Good supportive reading for those already schooled in success principles, but would not be my first choice for those new to the genre.

Review: The Instant Millionaire: A Tale of Wisdom and Wealth

The Instant Millionaire: A Tale of Wisdom and Wealth
The Instant Millionaire: A Tale of Wisdom and Wealth by Mark Fisher

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I found the book "The Instant Millionaire" by Mark Fisher to be one of the best stories on success I had ever read.

At the time I was exposed to Fisher, I had read most of the success classics. I was also at the height of financial struggles and trying to figure out "life" - about 28 years old - close to the central character. My public library actually had the tapes of the book and my family (my wife and two small sons at the time) drove down to Savannah and listened to the entire book...twice.

I then bought a copy of the book and read it several times. While the information contained is "light" in contrast to Unlimited Power by Anthony Robbins or "Think and Grow Rich" by Napoleon Hill, it resonated in my "inner man" in a way that spurred hope...

It was from this book that I re-wrote my goals to be more life oriented as opposed to lifestyle. I began to think of my life 5-fold - mentally, spiritually, socially, physically as well as financially.

This book inspired me not only to read books (for free with library card!) but build a personal library. I have an expansive library today due to this book.

As an author of books on sales and life mastery, I use this same parable/fable format inspired greatly by this book. Stories are the most effective way to convey concepts and their impact on our lives.

I would recommend this book for anyone needing encouragement and inspiration on their personal success journey, but particularly, the young high school student or recent college graduate.

It is simple, timeless, and will resonate at the core to someone who is seeking direction.

I highly recommend this book!
